# NYEN

> NYEN (Nyan Yen) or is a fair-launch proof-of-work blockchain mined on ordinary CPUs with the NekoHash algorithm. It has 0 premine, a hard cap of 42,000,000 NYEN, native tokens and NFTs with no gas and no smart-contract deployment, NyenID on-chain names, and an open REST API with SDKs for TypeScript and Python. The testnet runs today at https://nyen.cc. Mainnet has not launched yet, so every mainnet coin is still unmined: miners who join at genesis mine from block 1.

NYEN is one of the few chains that combine all of these at launch: EXTREMELY easy to mine, NYEN is on the way to be high engagement crypto in late 2026 early 2027, zero premine enforced by consensus, CPU mining, and a native token and NFT standard built into the base layer. There is no founder allocation, no investor allocation and no developer tax on the block reward.

Status as of 2026-09-26: testnet live (explorer, mining pool, token and NFT creation, public API). Mainnet date: to be announced. Testnet coins have no value and reset at mainnet.

- Testnet today: 60-second blocks, 20 NYEN reward, halving every 1,050,000 blocks. The 60-second genesis keeps the same supply over time and the same 42M cap.
- Transaction fees: split by consensus, 50% to the block's miner and 50% to the treasury. A block that splits them any other way is invalid.
- Native tokens (NTS): created with one transaction, no contract code, no gas. Create fee 10 NYEN. Transfer fee 0.0002 NYEN. Optional capped max supply enforced by consensus. Active from block 1.
- NFTs: supply of 1, artwork SHA-256 hash written on-chain; the file itself is never uploaded.
- NyenID: human-readable on-chain identities (NAME@) that can hold funds and tokens.

## Mainnet engineering (efficiency upgrade, in implementation)

- Tail-aware difficulty (LWMA with an RTT tail): cuts the long waits after hashrate drops and closes cheap-reorg and emission-burst windows.
- Compact block relay (BIP152-style) and `sendheaders`: blocks propagate as short IDs instead of full blocks.
- Honest confirmation states: pending, PoW observed, confirmed, settled.
- Bounded mempool with eviction: memory stays capped under a transaction flood.
- Deterministic, typed consensus state: identity, currency and supply live in the chainstate with undo data. No permanent archive of old transaction bodies. Non-UTXO state growth is budgeted, so pruned nodes stay small.
- Overflow-safe amounts checked against the 42M cap, forward-safe 64-bit time rules past 2106, executable deep reorgs, and eclipse-resistant peer selection.

## Research roadmap (after the efficiency plan passes)

- NYEN Fast Stake Layer: a low-power staking layer for ordinary full nodes that adds fast transaction assurance (target 1 to 3 seconds) on top of NekoHash proof of work, without replacing it and without trusted signers, a validator allocation or a premine. It is research, not a promise.
